Internet Question:
I saw the movie version of “To Gillian” with Peter Gallagher. Was it hard to do this show on stage? I mean, doesn't most of it take place on a beach?  —
Chelsea, W. Woodstock, NY

In a play, there would be many ways to establish the look of a beach without bringing in tons of sand, but that's exactly what the producers did. They brought in gobs and gobs of sand. This was the West Coast premiere of the play, and they wanted to do it up right. I wish I had a picture of the set. It was beautiful.

The show was chocked full of professionals, but everyone had their eye on this newcomer named Shawnee. We all knew she was “going places.” I'm not surprised she's now a series regular in Ted Danson's “Becker.”
